Preparing for Türkiye starts with the passport and entry requirements, followed by transport and sightseeing bookings. There is no single rule for all Arab travellers. Nationality, travel-document type, purpose and any officially stated conditions determine the relevant route. A friend’s experience with a different passport is not enough to establish your own position.

Official information last reviewed: 28 October 2026. This is an introductory planning guide, not an eligibility decision or a substitute for consular advice on a particular case. Recheck the linked sources before travelling, especially if your passport, nationality used for travel, dates or previous visits affect the answer.

Check nationality and passport type first

Use the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s nationality list and find the country and passport you will actually use. At review, it listed Saudi ordinary passport holders as visa-exempt for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Egyptian ordinary passport holders require a visa, with electronic eligibility for qualifying categories. These examples illustrate different rules rather than provide a complete list for Arab countries.

Record the result separately for every family member, including children. Partners may have different nationalities, or someone may use a document other than an ordinary passport. If your document is not clearly covered, request guidance from the appropriate Turkish representation before relying on bookings that are difficult to change.

A personal checklist can include each traveller’s passport name, nationality, document type, expiry date and verification source. It is an organisational aid, not an additional border document. Avoid circulating passport images merely to ask a general question about a sightseeing tour.

Electronic visa or a consular application

If eligible, use the official e-Visa portal and check the application requirements for your document country and travel dates. Additional conditions may appear. Read them before paying rather than relying on an advertisement suggesting universal eligibility. If the electronic route does not apply, consult the appropriate Turkish representation about the correct application process.

Keep the passport and travel details in front of you while preparing an application. Review names, document numbers and dates carefully. Save the issued result, messages and instructions somewhere accessible during travel. A payment receipt alone does not explain the application’s status; read the actual document or decision and its instructions.

This guide gives no universal visa fee or guaranteed processing time. Read the official information for your case before committing to the application. If a condition is unclear, ask a specific question about it rather than relying on an intermediary’s broad promise of guaranteed acceptance.

Passport validity and permitted stay

The Foreign Ministry’s passport guidance gives a general rule of validity extending at least 60 days beyond the permitted stay, with stated exceptions. Its example of a 90-day stay requires 150 days of passport validity on entry. The Ministry also recommends six months from arrival; distinguish that recommendation from the legal calculation and exceptions.

Do not calculate the requirement only from hotel nights. Review the stay allowance and conditions applying to your document. If expiry is approaching, resolve renewal before building a plan around an assumption. After renewal, ask the relevant authority how new passport details affect any application or visa already issued.

The Ministry’s general visa information states a 90-day limit within 180 days for visa or visa-exempt stays; your permission may be shorter. Visa validity is not the same as permitted stay, and re-entry does not automatically reset previous visits. A visa alone does not guarantee entry. Work and study follow different arrangements from a tourism visit.

Previous travel and a longer stay

Collect documented entry and exit dates before deciding the end of your holiday. If the calculation is close to a limit or your circumstances are unclear, check with the appropriate authority. Do not use a new flight booking to test remaining eligibility, and do not treat an airline accepting a reservation as a decision about your permitted stay.

For a stay beyond your allowance, the Presidency of Migration Management explains the residence-permit route for those meeting its conditions. A permit is separate from a hotel or excursion booking and is not automatically granted because you want a longer holiday. Review the process before your lawful stay ends rather than relying on a tourism provider’s promise of an extension.

Arrange the journey to your hotel

Once travel requirements are clear, check the airport code: IST is Istanbul Airport on the European side and SAW is Sabiha Gökçen on the Asian side. Arrival and departure may use different airports, so keep the directions separate. Save the hotel address and map link rather than relying on a name that may have several branches.

The airport transfer guide explains the options and information needed for a vehicle request. At review, the service page listed US$50 per vehicle one way for IST and US$60 for SAW, within the confirmed area and for up to six passengers including children. Provide luggage sizes and any child-seat requirements before confirmation.

You can also compare metro and bus routes against the hotel address, luggage and operating times using official IST transport information and SAW metro information. Have a communication method and saved meeting instructions ready. Keep the flight day flexible: landing time is not hotel arrival time.

Build sightseeing around confirmed travel

Count the days between arrival and departure, then start with the Istanbul family day-trip guide. A short holiday may need only one excursion outside the city. If Sapanca interests you, its planning guide explains the shared and private choices before you request a booking.

Keep entry documents, flight and hotel confirmations, and transfer and tour arrangements in separate groups. This makes it easier to identify whom to contact after a change. Changing a car appointment does not amend a visa, and changing hotels does not automatically update a tour pickup. Notify each provider about the details relevant to its service and retain the latest confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

Can all Arab tourists enter without a visa

No. Check nationality and passport type on the official Foreign Ministry list instead of applying one country’s rules to every traveller.

Is visa validity the same as permitted stay

Do not confuse them. Check the authorised stay and visa or exemption conditions, including relevant previous visits.

Is a passport valid through the holiday enough

That alone is not the test. Review the additional-validity rule and exceptions in the linked Foreign Ministry guidance.

Does a hotel reservation extend the permitted visit

No. A reservation alone grants no residence permit. Consult the official migration process before your allowance ends if you intend to stay longer.

Can the family’s application use only the father’s details

No. Review each traveller’s document and eligibility, and follow the official process using the matching individual information.

When should I arrange airport transfers and tours

Once travel requirements and flight details are clear, send the dates, address and passenger numbers. Treat the service as confirmed only after receiving its final arrangements.
